Who we are
We are Learning and we invite visitors to create, play, question with and learn from art. We draw inspiration from °Õ²¹³Ù±ð’s collection and exhibitions, as well as issues that interest artists past and present and the role art, artists, and museums can play in society.
What we do
We create activities and resources for people of all ages to engage with art, in our London galleries and online. Our programme includes large-scale events and festivals, workshops, talks, tours, film screenings, and paper and digital resources – things to see, make, read, do, play with, and learn from.
Our programme is free and often requires no ticket. We do not presume any art knowledge or experience – all are welcome!
Who we programme with
We work with artists throughout our programme. We also partner with organisations – across youth, cultural, education, community sectors, and beyond – to share knowledge and resources and to create new opportunities for people to enjoy art and take up space in our galleries.
Early Years and Families

UNIQLO Tate Play, Joy of Feeling, ºÚÁÏÉç, 2024
Taking inspiration from the art on display, our activities, events, and resources offer families new ways to get creative and explore art together.
We have dedicated spaces in gallery where families can make, play, read, imagine, and spend time together. Our resources and creative materials are on offer during term time and there are exciting things to see and do every day in the school holidays.
Everyone is welcome – whether it’s your first visit or have come with your family many times before.
Schools and Teachers

Paint Room. 2025. Schools Week © Tate (Larina Fernandes)
Our Schools and Teachers programme supports young people and teachers to learn about themselves and others through being with art.
We offer options at our galleries and online that invite school students and teachers to try out new ideas and processes, and introduce ways to extend and develop these back in the classroom. We have activities suitable for students of all ages and backgrounds including students with special educational needs or disabilities.
Young People's Programmes

We create space for young people from all backgrounds to explore the world around them through art, culture, and ideas. We champion the creativity of diverse young Londoners while offering global perspectives on artists and artistic practices.
Our programme is a mix of large-scale events and small, regular opportunities for young people to connect with artists, their peers, and °Õ²¹³Ù±ð’s collection and spaces.
We collaborate with young people, artists, and partners to create our programme. ºÚÁÏÉç Producers are a group of 15–25-year-olds who work with us to create events, activities, and resources for their peers, while also building their own creative skills.
Public Programmes

An Evening of South African Music. 2024
We create opportunities where adults can engage with art, artists, and ideas as well as broader social and cultural issues.
Our programme is a mix of large-scale events and smaller workshops, talks, film screenings, live music, and other gatherings. We support life-long creative learning and enjoyment of art, championing the different ways this can take place in our galleries and online.
Learning Research
Research and evaluation inform all of our programming. We also undertake specific research projects which look at topics across creative learning, arts education, and the cultural sector more broadly.
