Description
In this letter Marie Seton informs Moody that his 'Three Heads' is on the mantelpiece in the drawing room in the Prime Minister's house. She tells Moody that Indira Gandhi will not be visiting London with her papa (Nehru) in June but that when she does she would very much like to have her portrait done by Moody. Seton provides a description of the Prime Minister's house and life there, with specific reference to the Satish Gujral paintings in the house. She also talks about Krishna Menon, his insecurities, and paranoia. She tells Moody of her decision to delay her trip to Japan for twelve days to try and help Menon and her intention to spend two months in India after her trip to Japan. She refers to Menon's collapses and her relationship with him and describes how destructive his new position [as Minister of Defence] has proved to be. Towards the end of the letter there is another reference to 'Three Heads' and its placement in the house, family life in the Prime Minister's house, thoughts on Indira Gandhi, her (Indira's) husband, and Nehru.
