Description
A letter to Humphrey Spender in which John Banting apologises for not having thanked him sooner for the photographs of dancers. [Presumably the promotional photographs of the ballet 'Prometheus', at Sadler's Wells, see letter TGA 9717/1/4]. The letter has been written on the back on a blueprint. The blueprint is an image of a semi-abstract surrealist head. In red ink on the top right hand corner is written the [fictional] name, 'Colonel George Molars'. This image appears on p.22 of Banting's 1946 satirical surrealist book, 'A Blue Book of Conversation' [there, the image was accidentally printed upside down, as one can tell by the signature].
