About

In the early 1980s artist Lubaina Himid curated three exhibitions of young Black and Asian women artists, who challenged their collective invisibility in the British art world, engaging with contemporary social, cultural, political and aesthetic issues. Curated by Lubaina Himid, Professor of Contemporary Art, University of Central Lancashire and independent curator Paul Goodwin, Tate Britain鈥檚 Thin Black Line(s) display takes its name from the 1985 ICA exhibition curated by聽Himid.聽
