The Art of Not Working

5 February 2019 at 18.30–20.00

Join us for a conversation on art, labour and the future of work

For this special event, psychoanalyst and literary theorist Josh Cohen will be joined by Tate Director Maria Balshaw for a conversation exploring art, ‘inactivity’ and the politics of labour. Framing the publication of Cohen’s new book Not Working: Why We Have to Stop, the discussion will consider the permanent busyness and blind activity that characterises our working lives. What is the role of ‘inertia’ within contemporary culture?
