Emerging photographer and artist Helen Cammock’s The Singing Will Never Be Done 2011 will be shown alongside two works by filmmakers she identifies as foundational predecessors – the legendary Handsworth Songs 1986 by Black Audio Film Collective, set during the 1985 Birmingham riots, and Andrea Arnold’s Oscar-winning social realist short WaspÌý2003.
Cammock will discuss the way these works have influenced her approach to narrative and her understanding of the relationship between the individual and society.
