Bird la Bird: Going Down

Photograph of a long haired person wearing a crown holding a banner which reads 'Beauty'

Uncover the lost lives of the queer dispossessed

Using the decriminalisation of male homosexuality as a starting point, performance artist Bird la Bird probes the annals of queer history. Through archival documents and stories about Millbank Prison, the site where Tate Britain now stands, she uncovers lost lives of the queer dispossessed.

The use of different acronyms and language with reference to identity throughout this text express the personal wishes of each individual or group listed in the programme for the ‘Queer & Now’ festival
