BSL TOUR: Found in Turner’s Studio: Seascapes

16 September 2017 at 12.00–13.00

Joseph Mallord William Turner, Shipping at the Mouth of the Thames c.1806–7. Tate.

Take a British Sign Language guided tour and discover Turner’s seascapes

Turner had a lifelong fascination with the sea. Most of the paintings in this display are apparently incomplete canvases found in Turner’s studio following his death, not exhibited during his lifetime and mostly unseen by his contemporaries. The paintings range from oil sketches made with finished marine compositions in mind to more experimental late works concerned with capturing the movement and nature of the sea itself.

This tour is delivered in British Sign Language by guide Serena Cant with voice over interpretation, hearing loops and amplifiers are available. Please meet in the Manton Foyer.

If you have any other access needs that you would like to let us know about please contact: Anna Murray, Assistant Curator: Access anna.murray@tate.org.uk or call +44 (0)20 7887 8888
