Old Food With Toby Jones

22 May 2025 at 19.30–21.30

Toby Jones reads Ed Atkins' Old Food at Conway Hall. Presented by Cabinet Gallery, 2019. Photograph by Mark Blower

Actor Toby Jones will deliver a dramatic reading of Ed Atkins’s epic anti-poem, Old Food

‘Old Food With Toby Jones’ is a live, performative reading of Ed Atkins’ book, Old Food, by the actor Toby Jones.

"Scorched by senility and nostalgia, and wracked by all kinds of hunger, Old Food lurches from allegory to listicle, from lyric to menu, fetching up a plummeting, idiomatic and crabbed tableau from the cannibalised remains of each form in turn. Steeped in spoiled language and poorly Britishness, wadded with historicity, melancholy and a bravura kind of stupidity." Ed Atkins

Tate Britain's step-free entrance is on Atterbury Street. It has automatic sliding doors and there is a ramp down to the entrance with central handrails.

The Exhibition is on the Main floor of the gallery.

  • Accessible, standard and Changing Places toilets are located on the Lower floor.
  • Ear defenders can be borrowed from the ticket desk on the Lower floor.
