Tour: Myths and Legends of Burne-Jones

Join us for an evening exploring the myths and legends within Burne-Jones' work

The Pre-Raphaelite painter Edward Burne-Jones is famous for his sumptuous depictions of myths, legends and fairy tales, from Arthurian Romances to the stories of Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.

Schedule

17.00 Meet at the Duffield Room where tour guide Dick Thomas will provide an introductory presentation on the life and work of Edward Burne-Jones, giving an overview of his persistent interest in depicting ancient myths

18.00 Private Show and Tell in Tate's Library and Archive. Discover examples of paintings, stained glass designs by Burne-Jones and work he produced with lifetime friend William Morris

18.30 Artist and storyteller Rebecca Leach McDonald leads a tour of the Edward Burne-Jones exhibition

20.00 – 22.00 The opportunity to view the exhibition at your own pace

Biography

Rebecca Leach McDonald is an artist whose practice brings together storytelling and learning for sustainability into participatory experiences that explore what it means to be human within a fast-changing world. She is a graduate of the MA Art and Science at Central Saint Martins, the Deep Listening Institute and the Westcountry School of Myth. She has recently run projects at the Tate Exchange, V&A, and has worked in collaboration with the University of Oxford and Global Generation.
