Using Francis Bacon: Invisible Rooms as a resource, this study day provides an introduction to his work and will cover a range of different areas including Bacon’s painting technique, themes, use of sources, pictorial devices and other aspects relevant to the study of the artist’s work.Â
Dr Rina Arya is a Reader in Visual Communication at the University of Wolverhampton, and an art theorist who specialises in the art of Francis Bacon. She has written a number of articles on different aspects of his work including representations of sexuality, time and death. She is the author of Francis Bacon: Painting in a Godless World (2012) and Abjection and Representation: An Exploration of Abjection in the Visual Arts, Film and Literature (2014).
