Drop in to our Learning Studio to explore an incredible display of artworks created by prisoners from across the North West. Led by , who deliver education in prisons, this was an opportunity for the participants and their families at 6 HMP sites in the North West of England and Wales, to engage in fun and creative art activities that support family connections.
From September 2021 – March 2022, participants used our Whose Tradition? display as a starting point and worked with artists to create the art you can see on display in our studio. They also designed activities to share with their families, through family days or postal exchanges, supporting family ties in a dynamic way.
Sustaining strong family relationships while in prison can play an important role in supporting offenders to tackle issues, helping to reduce reoffending, so that on release they are ready to live safe, healthy and productive lives.
This presentation of artwork celebrates the achievements of the learners and their contributing family members. Tate Liverpool is proud to work in partnership with Novus to support art engagement in the North-West and Wales.
