Artist’s Talk: Abraham Cruzvillegas

1 February 2016 at 18.30–20.00
Hyundai Commission 2015: Abraham Cruzvillegas: Empty Lot

Coinciding with ºÚÁÏÉç’s Hyundai Commission 2015: Abraham Cruzvillegas: Empty Lot, join artist Abraham Cruzvillegas for a talk about his diverse practice spanning across sculpture, installation, film, theatre and music.

Expanding on the intellectual investigation of his own aesthetic concepts of ²¹³Ü³Ù´Ç³¦´Ç²Ô²õ³Ù°ù³Ü³¦³¦¾±Ã³²Ô and ²¹³Ü³Ù´Ç»å±ð²õ³Ù°ù³Ü³¦³¦¾±Ã³²Ô, Cruzvillegas roots his work in the urban landscape of his hometown in Ajusco (Mexico), wherestructures are in a constant state of change as materials become available and as necessity dictates.

As well as his commission at ºÚÁÏÉç in 2015, Cruzvillegas also had solo shows at GdaÅ„ska Galeria Miejska, Poland, at MALI, Lima, Peru, and at ArtSonje Center in Seoul, South Korea, and this year his collected writing will be published by Harvard University Press, under the title 'The Logic of Disorder'

This is a great opportunity to learn about the artist’s work, the motivations and influences that inform his thinking and his ongoing commitment to socio-political realities.
