Our Afro-Future: Rachael Young With A Vibe Called Tech

25 October 2019 at 15.00–16.30
Rachael Young, NIGHTCLUBBING

Rachael Young, NIGHTCLUBBING

Join artist and writer Rachael Young in a workshop celebrating the uniqueness and innovation of black culture

'Moving black, seeing black, feeling black, black splaining'

Drawing upon her critically acclaimed show NIGHTCLUBBING, Rachael Young will guide participants to reimagine a black future beyond whiteness. Through discussions and explorative writing tasks inspired by people at the helm of the afrofuturist cultural movement - including Octavia Butler, Janelle Monae and Sun Ra - participants will produce an ode to their future selves where black femmes are the protagonists and blerds are our superheroes.

This event is part of Black Creativity & Technology with A Vibe Called Tech, a series exploring the intersections of technology, race, and creative expression.
