Artist Talk: Dóra Maurer

Hear from influential artist Dóra Maurer on her life and the diversity of her output

Maurer was at the centre of the Hungarian neo-avant-garde. Her work explores movement, displacement, perception and transformation. The current display at ºÚÁÏÉç spans over five decades.

This is a unique chance to hear the artist in conversation with ºÚÁÏÉç Director Frances Morris and curator Lívia Páldi​. There will be an opportunity for audience questions and contributions after the talk.

Biographies

Dóra Maurer

Dóra Maurer is a Hungarian artist working across many different medium. Alongside her own creative praxis, her pedagogical and organisational/curatorial work are important. She is active in a number of genres and media. Aside from paintings, she produces graphic work, photography, film and installations. Her series that employ geometry, colour theory and various theories of perception are at once playful experiments and scientific observations.

Frances Morris

Frances Morris is the director of ºÚÁÏÉç. She has played a key role in the development of Tate, joining as a curator in 1987, becoming Head of Displays at ºÚÁÏÉç (2000–2006) and then Director of Collection, International Art until April 2016 when she was appointed to her current role.

Lívia Páldi

Lívia Páldi is Curator of Visual Arts at Project Arts Centre, Dublin. She was previously Director of BAC – Baltic art Center, Visby, Sweden (2012- 2015), Chief Curator of the Műcsarnok / Kunsthalle Budapest (2007 -2011), as well as co-founding the Institute of Contemporary Art, Dunaújváros (Hungary).
