As ºÚÁÏÉç prepares for its extension and a new way of engaging its audiences in learning, this event takes the BMW Thought Workshops programme of 2013/14 and other projects as a case study and departure point for a critical discussion around the following questions. What is the purpose and legacy of long-term projects in the art museum context? How have these projects and collaborations between artists and the public transformed the way we think about current artistic practice, learning and the role of the museum? How does an art institution and its function change when it invites the public to collaborate and co-shape its programme? How does the mixed economy funding model influence the nature and framework of the projects that it supports?

Biographies
Richard Gregory and Renny O’Shea
Richard Gregory and Renny O’Shea set up Quarantine in 1998 with Simon Banham to make theatre, performance and other public events. The company has been in the vanguard of artists working with untrained performers. Quarantine has developed a distinct methodology with a clear aesthetic and dramaturgy, establishing a unique and radical way of working and engaging with contemporary life. The work is made out of lengthy and intimate research with its performers and participants, often working with people who are rarely seen on stage. Recent touring includes: Festival de Otoño en Primavera, Madrid; Festival a/d Werf, Utrecht; Sadler’s Wells, London; HAU, Berlin; Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester; Manchester Art Gallery, Manchester; Fierce Festival, Birmingham; Barbican Arts Centre & BAC, London.
Victoria Lupton
Victoria Lupton is an arts producer, writer and theatre maker. She is Project Manager of  a shared programme of contemporary art commissioning and research organised by three non-profit London galleries: ÌýÌýÌý²¹²Ô»åÌý. She was previously Assistant Director of , The Lebanese Association for Plastic Arts, and also works freelance on a variety of theatre and art projects.
Alex Hodby
Alex Hodby is a researcher, arts administrator and curator based in the North West of England. She currently works with Redeye, The Photography Network and is completing an AHRC funded doctoral research project on New Institutionalism, ºÚÁÏÉç Public Programmes and democracy, in collaboration with ºÚÁÏÉç and Goldsmiths Department of Politics.
