Surrealist Morning Session

26 March 2022 at 07.00–10.00
families make carboard sculptures in the Turbine Hall

Calling all kids and their grownups: come and start your weekend with a special morning set around the dreamlike world of surrealism

Enjoy DJ sets and creative hands-on workshops and so you don’t go hungry, a family-friendly breakfast offer, too. Include a visit to our Surrealism Beyond Borders exhibition with our combined ticket offer.

You’ll also get the chance to make surrealist creative collage cards, use your artistic skills to draw a surreal creature as well as strike a pose in our uncanny photo studio. The iconic Turbine Hall will come to life with music from Zakia (NTS Radio) and Mari* (Worldwide FM) programmed by Global Roots.

We aim to make your morning as relaxed and easy as possible – with a dedicated buggy park zone, comfortable breastfeeding area, and because you’ll have an early start, plenty of coffee.

There will be music in the Turbine Hall and parents may wish to bring ear defenders for younger children. A limited number will be available on the day.

The fun doesn’t have to end there. After 10.00 you can stay for UNIQLO TATE PLAY: Make Studios – free drop-in workshops offering creative fun for families inspired by what’s on at ºÚÁÏÉç.

UNIQLO Tate Play is in partnership with UNIQLO

ºÚÁÏÉç's entrance is via the Turbine Hall on Holland Street. There are automatic sliding doors and a ramp down to the entrance.

There are lifts to every floor of the Blavatnik and Natalie Bell buildings. Alternatively you can take the stairs.

  • Fully accessible toilets are located on every floor on the concourses.
  • A quiet room is available to use in the Natalie Bell Building on Level 4.
  • Ear defenders can be borrowed from the Ticket desks.

Visitor numbers are being carefully managed. There are increased cleaning regimes in high use areas, protective screens on desks and counters and hand sanitiser dispensers throughout the gallery.

To help everyone keep at a safe distance we are limiting and managing visitor numbers with tickets. You will be given individual packs or sanitised materials to use at creative workshops. Enhanced cleaning is in place and we’ll ask you to wear a face covering, unless you’re exempt.

When you visit:

  • Keep your distance from others
  • Please wear a face covering unless you are exempt

Most importantly, if you or anyone you live with has COVID-19 symptoms please stay at home.
