Rebecca Horn: Performances

A special display of Rebecca Horn’s early performance film compilations.

This free Collection Display presents Rebecca Horn's two performance film compilations in sequence throughout the day. In these works,ÌýIn Performances IÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýPerformances II, Horn experiments with stop motion visual tricks and animal mimicry. These works also document the original use of Horn’s striking ‘body sculptures’, masks and prosthetic appendages which are meant to explore and enhance one’s sensorial relationship with both his or her surrounding space and with other people.

Performances I

Germany 1972, 16mm transferred to video, colour, sound, 19 min

Includes footage of Red Limbs,ÌýBlue-Blue-Blue,ÌýRed Breast,ÌýBlack Expansion,ÌýGrowing Hair / Bad Dream,ÌýBlack Cockfeathers,ÌýHead Balance,ÌýShoulder ExtensionsÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýFeather Instrument.

Performances II

Germany 1973, 16mm transferred to video, colour, sound, 35 min

Includes footage of Unicorn,ÌýHead Extension,ÌýWhite Body Fan,ÌýFinger Gloves,ÌýFeather Finger,ÌýGavin,ÌýCockfeather Mask,ÌýPencil MaskÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýCockatoo Mask.

Access to the Starr Cinema is free and unticketed for this display between the hours of 11.00–15.00 only. Visitors may come and go as they please.
