Curators Talk: Barbara Hepworth

Join curators Eleanor Clayton and Anne Barlow to discuss the touring exhibition celebrating the life and work of Barbara Hepworth

Hear the curators in conversation to discuss the touring exhibition on its opening day. Originated by Hepworth Wakefield, the exhibition at Tate St Ives has a special focus on ±á±ð±è·É´Ç°ù³Ù³ó’s life in Cornwall, bringing together many of her most important works.

Eleanor Clayton is Senior Curator at The Hepworth Wakefield and a specialist in British Modernism. In 2021 she curated the exhibition Barbara Hepworth: Art & Life which is touring to Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Tate St Ives, and Towner Art Gallery, and wrote the accompanying biography Barbara Hepworth: Art & Life, published by Thames & Hudson.

Anne Barlow is Director of Tate St Ives where she oversees its programme of exhibitions, displays, artist residencies, new commissions, learning and research. Barlow was formerly Director of Art in General, New York, Curator of Education and Media Programs, New Museum, New York, and Curator of Contemporary Art and Design, Glasgow Museums, Scotland. She has published and lectured widely and was Curator of 5th Bucharest Biennale and Co-Curator of the Latvian Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale.

This talk will have BSL interpretation.

Tate St Ives is located on Porthmeor Beach. There is a ramp up to the gallery entrance alongside stairs with a handrail.

There are lifts to all Levels of the gallery, or alternatively you can take the stairs.

  • Accessible and standard toilets are on Level 3, next to Gallery 6.
  • A toilet is on Level 3, next to Gallery 1.
  • Ear defenders can be borrowed from the information desk.
