Dear Hodin,

The catalogue is a masterpiece. Many sincere thanks. I’m sending along six copies here. They’ve only just arrived (the first batch for the invitations was rather short, but there are enough here now). I have more and shall keep them here for you (or, if you like, I’ll send you more). I’m sending five further copies of Arts News (and will buy more in the next few days). The portrait you’ve painted of me and everything else you’ve written about me is so fine that I fear people will be disappointed when they see my pictures. It’s all come out so well that with my feeble words I cannot thank you as I should like to.

I’m currently in the process of varnishing and framing the pictures, though I still need photographs. I haven’t slept properly for weeks because of the pain in my knee etc. My friends are all leaving before the exhibition. Mrs Nahez is threatening me, I must find someone to buy the pictures – easier said than done. Chatin doesn’t seem to be here either – I tried calling him. No answer.

I suppose these are like the contractions of an exhibition.

I hope you’re all doing well in Cornwall. I must put these things in an envelope before they empty the postbox.

All the best, sincerely yours,

EK
