Many thanks for the card from Rome and for sending the letter from Australia: having read your Portrait of an Artist and seen the self-portrait, an antipodean expressed the desire to have a small work by me and kindly offered me real bark paintings from aboriginals in Arnhem Land. I hope you’re well and in good spirits (I’m facing a gruesome operation at the dentist).
