Dear Pepi,
Just a few words, but not too many, because I don’t want to infect you with my pre-Christmas depression. These infernal Lupercalia darken my [illegible] with their ominous shadows.
I hope you’re all well – I would have liked so much to have seen you all, but it’s quite impossible to escape this hell.
Winter and lack of light make painting almost impossible. The cultural attaché from the German Embassy sent me a small cheque for a small picture – couldn’t come to the exhibition, nor was it possible to be present at the ambassador’s reception.
