Description

Contains two letters, five photographs and an envelope. The letter was sent from Montevideo, Uruguay. Torres-Garcia writes that now, as he has finally learned Lipchitz's address (who is also travelling), he will write more often. He speaks about a conference on Lipchitz, which he is going to organise with Jewish societies in Montevideo and later in Buenos-Aires. He says he is not planning to stress Lipchitz's Jewish origins, but just to mention that he was born in Poland. He also writes that he has recently published articles on Ozenfant, Gris, Doesburg, Braque and Mondrian. On the reverse of the last page there is another letter from another sender. A separate piece of paper contains another note written by the same hand and on the same topic - poems by Juan Gris. The sender says that Mr [Juan] Larrea holds the texts. The separate letter is addressed to M-me Lipchitz, and the sender also asks her to send him/her the journal 'Documents', because he/she is planning to write for 'La Nacion' on the subject of Lipchitz. There are five small photographs attached. Each show an artwork, there is the artist's name on the back: 'Amalie Nieto' (Cubist painting), 'J. Torres-Garcia' (Cubist painting), 'Lia Ribas' (Cubist sculpture), 'August Torres' (painting), and 'Rosa Acle' (architectural model or sculpture). See correspondence with Rosa Acle (TGA 897/1/1/2) and with Juan Larrea (TGA 897/1/1/240).
