Description

Chairman of the Exhibition Committee Amstislavsky asks Lipchitz to submit the cost of work, especially for the conversion to bronze. He also asks if Jacques is ready to start making a bust of [Sergo] Ordzhonikidze. If the answer is 'yes', the Committee is going to send Lipchitz the death mask of Ordzhonikidze. Amstislavsky also writes that he will probably come to Paris in person soon. The envelope holds printed label: '[Committee of All-]Union Art Exhibition "Industry of socialism"'.On the back of envelope there is a writing by J. Lipchitz's hand: 'Le 13 Mai 1937 je accepte faire portrait lettre suit' (On 13 May 1937 I agree to make [Sergo Orzhonikidze] portrait. Letter follows'.
