Description
The letter concerns Epstein's work mentioning the completion of a small work for the Blake Memorial in Westminster Abbey and others' reactions to it (Kenneth Clark, Herbert Read, Henry Moore and John Piper refused to attend), his progress on the Coventry work ('St Michael's Victory over the Devil' 1958), that he has a lot of commissions, his good health, that he has asked Irving to divert money from sales in America to Peggy Jean, a figure has been sent to Baltimore Art Gallery and that he sees Matt Smith sometimes. The letter is enclosed with a newspaper cutting from the 'Daily Telegraph' about the bust of William Blake. Includes original envelope.
