Also included is an oversized photograph of Max Beckmann, with inscription in German on back of photograph by Theo Garve: 'For Motte [Marie-Louise], a good friend and admired painter, a memento of our time as students with Max Beckmann in Frankfurt with heartfelt greetings and best wishes...]'.
