Description
In the exhibition catalogue for 'Ian Breakwell Continuous Diary and Related Works: 1965-1978/Circus: 1978', Ian Breakwell writes: "On a visit to Glasgow in 1977 I noticed, at the junction of Scott Street and Sauchiehall Street, a brick wall into which was set a fragment of an old brick archway. It turned out to be part of the original structure of the Hippodrome, home of Hengler's Circus, which occupied this sit from 1904 to 1924." As photographs were taken around this site as part of research for 'Circus', it is possible that the archway described in the exhibition catalogue is the one in this photograph.
